S$200,000 Scholarship Launched to Help Unemployed

ESI Programme to Benefit Technical Professionals

 Singapore – Aug. 10, 2009

Today ESI International announced the launch of its S$200,000 scholarship program for out-of-work technical professionals in Singapore. Scholarship funds will cover the majority of course fees for approved candidates, who may choose up to three courses from ESI’s project management or business analysis curriculum.

Applicants can apply to take any courses offered under ESI Singapore’s Open Enrolment programme or via ESI’s e-learning platform. Courses can be applied toward an associate’s certificate or master’s certificate issued through ESI and partner The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. GW will award advanced standing toward its Master of Science in Project Management to those who earn a GW/ESI project management master’s certificate and meet other requirements.

“Despite the current economy, project management as a profession is expected to grow substantially in the next few years with an increasing demand worldwide in such project-intensive industries as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, construction and IT,” said Seetoh Hon Chew, Managing Director, Asia, ESI. “This programme will allow professionals to keep up their skills in the industry to take advantage of these leading economic opportunities.”

ESI’s Stand Out Scholarship will run through 31 Dec., or until funds have been exhausted. The programme is limited to currently unemployed individuals who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents who can show proof of unemployment.

“We feel strongly that this programme will serve to support project management and business analysis professionals who are unemployed due to the downturn by making in-demand learning programmes cost effective,” said Seetoh.
