Sure Bet in Nevada – Building Business Analysis Practice
City of Henderson, NV
The City of Henderson decided to invest precious budget dollars in its employees to hedge its bets against future risk and potential losses due to project failures. The investment involved the launch of a large scale training initiative to further develop a Business Analysis (BA) presence in the City’s project management office (PMO). The City did not have a formal BA presence, program, methodology, practices, or procedures and, therefore, was unable to reach their objective of improving the outcomes of its major projects. USAF Air Combat Command
The U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command Acquisition Management and Integration Center (ACC AMIC) wanted to improve the capabilities of its acquisition team and break down perceived silos between various technical areas. As an initial effort, they wanted to focus on training civilian and military technical experts in contract management and project management. The learning program needed to be appropriate for military personnel, who rotate through the team approximately every 24-36 months. U.S. Department of State, Foreign Service Institute (FSI)
Within a short time frame, FSI was required to significantly change and improve the annual COR files control and administration process in order to comply with the newly issued Department of State Executive guidelines. The TwentyEighty Strategy Execution’s subject matter experts (SMEs) were invited to facilitate the process and conduct the COR training. As a result, FSI was able to complete the required task on time, while significantly improving the whole COR files governance process, and increasing employee understanding and overall job satisfaction. After receiving a large funding increase, the L.A. County Department of Mental Health (DMH) was inundated with requests for new IT projects. National Industries for the Blind (NIB)
NIB was awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for CMS closeout support services with the Department of Defense (DoD). While NIB candidates for employment with the CMS program have college or advanced degrees, none had specialized knowledge in contract management that support services require. NIB had to move quickly to prepare their CMS employee candidates for the complexities of federal contracting processes and regulations. Read more.
