The George Washington University Credentials

Upon completion of any of our prestigious master's certificate programs, you will be eligible to add credentials to your title. Backed by our academic partner, The George Washington University, these credentials signify to the industry that you have completed your master's in a specific field of work. Here is the list of applicable credentials.

  • GWCAP (certified agile practitioner) – individuals that have earned a Master’s Certificate in Agile Practices can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCPM (certified project manager) – individuals that have earned either the Master’s Certificate in Project Management or Master’s Certificate in Project Management with a Concentration in IT can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCCM (certified contract manager) – individuals that have earned a Master’s Certificate in Contracting can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCBA (certified business analyst) individuals that have earned the Master’s Certificate in Business Analysis can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCPgM - (certified program manager) - individuals that have earned the Master’s Certificate in Program Management can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCFPM - (certified federal project manager) - individuals that have earned the Master's Certificate in Federal Project Management can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCAFP - (certified advanced federal project manager) - individuals that have earned the Advanced Master's Certificate in Federal Project Management can add this credential to the end of their signature line
  • GWCFIP - (certified federal IT project manager) - individuals that have earned the Master's Certificate in Federal IT Project management can add this credential to the end of the their signature line
  • GWCFPG - (certified federal program manager) - individuals that have earned the Master's Certificate in Federal Program Management can add this credential to the end of their signature line

Certificate Details

Master's Certificate in Agile Practices

  • GWCAP (certified in Agile Practices) - GWCAP certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), and The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in Agile management. A GWCAP practitioner has relevant Agile knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Agile Practices.
Master’s Certificate in Project Management
  • GWCPM (certified project manager) - GWCPM certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), and The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in project management. A GWCPM practitioner has relevant core project management knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Project Management.
Master’s Certificate in Project Management with a Concentration in IT
  • GWCPM (certified project manager) - GWCPM certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a known qualification in project management. A GWCPM practitioner will learn pertinent core IT project management knowledge through the completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Project Management with a Concentration in IT.
Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting
  • GWCCM (certified contract manager) - GWCCM certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in contract management. A GWCCM specialist has relevant contract management knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting.
Master’s Certificate in Business Analysis
  • GWCBA (certified business analyst) - GWCBA certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University School of Business, is a recognized credential in business analysis. A GWCBA practitioner has relevant business analysis knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Business Analysis.
Master’s Certificate in Program Management
  • GWCPgM (certified program manager) - GWCPgM certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in program management. A GWCPgM practitioner has relevant core program management knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Program Management plus additional criteria that includes further training, certifications or specific hours of experience in fields of project and/or program management.
Master’s Certificate in Federal Project Management
  • GWCFPM (certified federal project manager) - GWCFPM certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in federal project management. A GWCFPM practitioner has acquired core federal project management knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to a Master’s Certificate in Federal Project Management.
Master’s Certificate in Advanced Federal Project Management
  • GWCAFP (certified advanced federal project manager) - GWCAFP certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in advanced federal project management. A GWCAFP practitioner has acquired core project management knowledge through the successful completion of at least seven (7) TwentyEighty Strategy Execution courses that lead to an Master’s Certificate in Advanced Federal Project Management.
Master’s Certificate in Federal Program Management
  • GWCFPG (certified federal program manager) - GWCFPG certification, created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution (formerly ESI International, Inc.), in association with The George Washington University, School of Business, is a recognized credential in federal program management. Master's Certificate in Federal IT Project Management

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: I earned a Master’s Certificate, is there any type of credential that I can add to my signature line or resume?

A: Please contact our Office of Student Affairs (OfficeofStudentAffairs@strategyex.com or 888-374-4681) and they will verify your eligibility to use the GW credential and provide you with additional information on the credentials.

Q: My employer requires proof that I can use the credential and what it stands for, is there any chance that I can get this in writing?

A: Yes, please fill out our GW Credential Request form or contact our Office of Student Affairs (OfficeofStudentAffairs@strategyex.comor 888-374-4681) and they will be able to assist you.

Q: I saw the information on the GW credential. Will I receive written notification of my eligibility to use it?

A: As students earn their Master’s Certificates they will receive a letter along with the Master’s Certificate explaining their eligibility to use the GW credential. This will also suffice as an explanation when employers or future employers ask what the credential stands for and what the individual did to earn it.

Q:Does this mean I am now a Certified Project Manager/Program Manager/Business Analyst or Government Contract Manager? 

A: Yes, you are certified based upon meeting the criteria specified for that particular credential through The George Washington University.

Q:Can this certificate be compared to the PMP®?

A: No, this cannot be compared to the PMP® because it is in recognition of academic achievement.

Q: Do I have to maintain my certification like other professional bodies?

A: No, there is no requirement to re-certify.

Q:Is there an expiration date on the credential?

A: No, there is no expiration date. Once you earn it you can use it from that point forward.

Q: Do I have to take only the core classes in order to get this certification?

A: You must meet the criteria for the specific Master’s Certificate you are working toward and meet any additional requirements listed.

Q: If I have taken courses in the past, can those count towards a Master’s certificate?

  A: Yes, if the courses you have taken are within the required Master’s Certificate path and they have been taken within the designated time frame – 4 years. Once you have met the criteria and successfully completed the courses you will earn the Master’s Certificate and are eligible to use the credential.  In order to confirm your eligibility, please contact our Office of Student Affairs. Q: Can I use this on my business card like the PMP® certification?

A: Yes, it can be added to your signature line or business card.

Q: Do I get a pin like the one I get for the CBAP®?

A: No, there is no pin or any other designation with this credential.

Q: Is this credential industry recognized? And does this mean I am certified by industry standards?

A: No, this is not industry recognized.  Rather, it is in recognition of academic achievement.

Q: How is this credential verifiable?

A: You may contact our Office of Student Affairs (OfficeofStudentAffairs@strategyex.com or 888-374-4681) and they will verify that the individual has met the specific requirements in order to be eligible to use the GW credential.  You may also request a verification letter.

Q: Will GWU have a record of all those students with the credentials?

A: No, because created by TwentyEighty Strategy Execution is tracking that data. 

Q: Is there a credential available for the professional Certificate in Business Skills?

A: No, the credentials are only available with the Master’s Certificate Programs.
