Carl Sergeant, PMP, Senior Instructor, brings an entrepreneurial, results-focused viewpoint based on more than three decades of project, program and portfolio management experience to his ESI client engagements. An internationally respected thought leader, Carl has been recognized as one of the fifty most powerful and influential project management professionals in the world by the Project Management Institute’s (PMI®) PM Network magazine.
Using his experience in the telecommunications industry, Carl shares learning and development insights that help create leaders at all organizational levels. As a senior project executive, he has managed project portfolios delivering revenues in excess of $500 million and in 24 months built a cross-functional PMOs while closing capability gaps through methodology development, individual and group learning and coaching and career path charting – all with an eye toward demonstrating return on investment to executive management.
His success in building individual and team capabilities has led him to focus on an approach that combines the power of people with intuitive project communications. An approachable mentor and an in-demand public speaker, he has spoken at many project management events, including Project World/Business Analyst World, PMI® Canada’s Technology Triangle Chapter and the PMI® Lakeshore Chapter Symposium. He also has written for PM Network.
In addition to his work with TwentyEighty Strategy Execution, Carl is the principal at Carl Sergeant Consulting, Inc., where he coaches both individuals and organizations in targeted project management techniques and best practices. A veteran of Canada’s telecommunications and technology industries, he has held a number of leadership positions with Bell Canada, Bell Connexim and Ericsson Canada.
Carl is an active member of the PMI® Southern Ontario and PMI® Lakeshore chapters. He holds Leadership Certification from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
James H Foreman
James H. Foreman, PMP, Senior Consultant, specializes in advanced project management. With clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to global industries to the federal government, he has provided project management training and professional services for more than 30 years. In addition, he has extensive experience in the areas of strategic planning for information management and the information system life cycle as well as service acquisition and service delivery.
At TwentyEighty Strategy Execution Jim focuses on client support, where he designs client-specific improvement programs and defines and designs programs and products for use across our client base. He was also instrumental in developing two white papers: Improving Sourcing Outcomes: The Three Cs of Vendor Management Success and Collaborating for Successful EVM: Five Fundamental Roles.
Jim is a former President of the Board of Directors of the International School of Stuttgart, Germany. He has a bachelor's degree from Yale University.
Jonathan Gilbert, PMP, Executive Director of Client Solutions, brings more than 30 years of experience as a project manager, educator, consultant and engineer to his client engagements. His experience, including construction, government, financial services, energy and telecommunications, gives his clients the added benefit of insights from across a range of industries.
Recognized as one of the project management world’s foremost authorities in the areas of change management and leadership, Jonathan is always in high demand to teach and speak. He has authored several articles and white papers on these topics, presented several times at Project Management Institute (PMI®) Global Congress – North America and regularly leads webinars, executive workshops and other presentations worldwide.
Prior to joining TwentyEighty Strategy Execution, he worked as a consultant. Jonathan began his career as a project engineer and construction manager, designing, building and operating environmental treatment facilities.
Jonathan is an active member of PMI® and holds a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in project and construction management and environmental engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Kathleen Connell Dawn, Senior Instructor, is the principal instructor for several of our core contract management courses. She draws upon decades of contract management experience to provide students with real-life, practical tools and knowledge, balanced with insights into the theories behind the practice. Working with a wide range of organizations, Kathleen focuses on growing their government contracting capabilities by advising contract, subcontract and procurement professionals involved in diverse domestic and international programs.
In addition to providing expert advice to TwentyEighty Strategy Execution clients, Kathleen provides subject matter expertise within TwentyEighty Strategy Execution to support corporate business development and marketing strategies. She often leads the development and tailoring of TwentyEighty Strategy Execution course content to ensure that it aligns with the latest government policies and procedures.
Kathleen speaks at events for civilian and defense government personnel as well as members of the private sector across the United States and around the world. Often a featured speaker at the National Contract Management Association World Congress, she also has written features for Contract Management magazine.
Prior to joining TwentyEighty Strategy Execution, Kathleen worked as a consultant for such prestigious clients as Dunn and Bradstreet and the National Institutes of Health. Previously she was a contract specialist with the General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Supply Service and an instructor at the GSA Training Center.
Kathleen is a member of the National Contract Management Association and a certified instructor of the Management of Defense Acquisition Contracts course. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA.
Rowena Prentice, Senior Instructor, has years of federal government experience that included working with various federal agencies and worldwide organizations on a range of consulting, rapid-deployment training, and presentations related to contracting and program management.
Prior to TwentyEighty Strategy Execution, she was a senior member of the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) faculty for more than a decade, responsible for teaching, facilitating and updating various contracting, logistics, acquisition and program management courses.
Ms. Prentice has an undergraduate degree in management and a master’s certificate in government contracting from The George Washington University. She also holds a professional certification in program management after graduating from Defense Systems Management College, is a member of the Acquisition Professional Community for the Department of Defense, is Level III (executive)-certified in both government contracting and government program management, is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and the National Contract Management Association.
